Poetry (Day 280): Patchwork Lives

Patchwork Lives

Patchwork quilt of our lives.
The red squares for the weekends away.
blue for the quiet nights at home.
A striped block for each of the kids.
Yellow for the laughter,
black for the fights and green
for the everyday moments
just between you and I.
A thousand colors, a thousand ideas
with more blocks added every day.
There is no pattern,
and no theme,
and no one else can see the beauty.
But it is warm
and comfortable
and there will always be
enough room beneath
for our children
when the weekend comes around.
