Poetry (Day 202): Boat

When a boat is launched
the ocean lifts it up
or pulls it down.
It tosses it about,
pulling one way
and the other.
Or it takes the boat to places
it’s never been, places
it’s never even imagined.

The ocean can fill the world
from horizon to horizon
or stay out of sight
as the boat keeps it’s bow to the shore.

And through it all,
the boat is still
the same boat that it ever was.
It is now just a boat
with water beneath it’s hull.

The ocean changes boats,
like money changes people.
