Poetry (Day 169): Stone

Stone

Small boy, carrying the weight of the world
in his school bag. He waits
for the bus, a stone amidst the blue
uniformed swirl around him.
Head down, he hears
but doesn’t react, and waits
for the jostling flow
to wear away his emotional edges
so he can be a man
and won’t feel the pain
any more.
