Poetry (Day 114): Tribute

   Tribute

Children are told to stop playing.
Their laughter is shushed.
They are expected
to stand still and consider horrors
that they cannot possibly imagine.

A minute of silence to remember
those who have fallen
in the defense of our
lives and our freedom.

But I wonder if games and laughter
might be the more fitting tribute.
