Today’s post hasn’t got anything to do with anything. It’s just a rant. It’s a nice rant though.
You know the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? I hate it. It’s a load of crap. And it annoys me immensely. Let’s think about it for a moment.
If we didn’t ‘fix’ the stuff that was working perfectly well (in no particular order)…
We’d still be living in caves. Hey, they protected us from the weather and predators.
We’d still be hunters and gatherers. They way of life worked perfectly well for thousands of years.
We’d still be riding horses to work. They got us there didn’t they? But actually, we’d still be walking everywhere.
We’d still heat our homes with fire.
We’d still be travelling around the world in sailing ships.
We’d still be spending months laying out books with movable type.
We’d still be using abacuses to add up.
We’d still be listening to AM radio.
I could go on all day but you get the point. I say fix the stuff that’s working perfectly well– it’ how the human race moves forward. Don’t fix the broken stuff, get rid of it because it probably sucks anyway.
